IPL Skin treatments Canberra

IPL - Vascular

If you’ve ever noticed tiny red capillaries, flushed cheeks, or stubborn broken vessels that just won’t fade — you’re not alone. Our IPL skin treatments, part of our comprehensive Canberra skin care offerings, are designed to gently target and reduce the appearance of those visible veins, redness, and rosacea-type symptoms, restoring a more even, balanced complexion.

How it works:

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)

- vascular treatments; use carefully filtered bursts of light to seek out the red or blue pigments in visible blood vessels. The light converts to heat, collapsing the vessel walls beneath the surface without harming the surrounding skin. Over time, your body naturally reabsorbs these treated vessels — leaving your skin looking clearer and calmer.

What it feels like:

Most clients describe it as a warm flick — like a quick snap of a rubber band followed by gentle warmth. Treatments are quick, and we’ll always use cooling techniques and protective gels to keep you comfortable throughout.

Down time:

You can get straight back to your day! You might notice mild redness or slight puffiness for a few hours, but this usually fades fast. Some vessels may darken before disappearing, which is completely normal and part of the process.

Our mission is simple, to be AFFORDABLE and ACCESSIBLE for everyone!

IPL Vascular - FAQS

IPL can help improve several common skin concerns including:

• Pigmentation and sun spots
• Freckles and sun damage
• Redness and rosacea
• Broken capillaries or visible vessels
• Uneven skin tone
• Dull or ageing skin

Most people notice improvement after 1–2 sessions, though a full series of 3–6 spaced a few weeks apart gives the best results.

IPL targets the haemoglobin in visible blood vessels. The heat causes the vessels to collapse and the body naturally reabsorbs them, helping reduce redness and visible capillaries.

No. Laser uses one specific wavelength of light, while IPL uses multiple wavelengths. This allows IPL to treat a variety of skin concerns in a single treatment.

Our IPL skin treatments are designed to target specific skin concerns and may include:

• Pigmentation correction – targeting sun spots, age spots and uneven pigment
• Vascular treatments – reducing redness, rosacea and broken capillaries
• Acne treatments – helping to calm inflammation, reduce acne-causing bacteria and support clearer skin
• Skin rejuvenation – improving overall skin tone, clarity and brightness

Your therapist will assess your skin and recommend the most suitable IPL treatment based on your current skin concerns and goals.

Once the vessel absorbs the light energy and heats up, it coagulates (essentially seals shut). The body then gradually breaks it down and clears it through the lymphatic system.

This is why results improve progressively over days to weeks post-treatment.

Smaller, superficial vessels may respond immediately and appear to vanish on the spot. Larger, deeper or stagnant vessels often take longer, as the body needs time to metabolise and remove them after they’ve been treated.

This is also why a course of treatments is usually recommended.

IPL also interacts with melanin, so skin type (Fitzpatrick scale) is important when determining settings. Higher melanin levels in the skin can compete with haemoglobin for light absorption, which is why treatments must be carefully customised to ensure safety and effectiveness.

First 24–48 hours:
Keep things simple. Your skin may feel warm and slightly sensitive, so avoid heat-based activities such as hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, extended sun exposure and intense exercise.

Stick to gentle skincare only — think cleanser, moisturiser and SPF. Avoid active ingredients like AHAs, BHAs, retinol or vitamin C during this time to prevent irritation.

Skin support!
Hydration is key. Focus on nourishing, barrier-supporting products to help the skin recover and function optimally.
