Carbon facials are a professional skin treatment performed by a trained therapist using a medical-grade laser and activated carbon solution
How it works:
Carbon facials combine a medical-grade laser with an activated carbon solution to deeply cleanse, exfoliate and refine the skin.
The carbon is first applied to the skin, where it penetrates into the pores and binds to oil, debris and impurities. Once set, the laser is passed over the skin, targeting the carbon particles.
As the laser energy is absorbed, it causes the carbon to heat and fragment, effectively lifting away congestion, dead skin cells and excess oil from within the pores.
A second laser pass is then performed without the carbon. This stage delivers controlled thermal energy directly into the dermis, stimulating fibroblast activity and encouraging collagen production. This helps to improve skin structure, refine texture and support overall skin function over time.
This dual-action process not only clears and refines the skin instantly, but also works on a deeper level to strengthen and rejuvenate the skin — leaving it smoother, brighter and more balanced.
What it feels like:
Carbon facials are a unique sensory experience — you’ll notice differences between each stage of the treatment.
During the first pass (with carbon), you’ll feel light, quick snapping sensations on the skin as the laser targets the carbon. You may also hear soft popping or cracking sounds — this is completely normal and comes from the carbon being broken down. Some clients notice a slight “smoky” or charcoal smell during this stage, which is simply the carbon being vaporised.
Once the carbon is removed, we move into the second pass (without carbon). This feels different — less of a snap and more of a gentle, consistent warmth as the laser works deeper within the skin. It’s typically more relaxing and focused on stimulating the skin rather than exfoliating it.
Overall, the treatment is very tolerable, with most clients describing it as more interesting than uncomfortable — a mix of warmth, light snapping and that satisfying “clean skin” feeling as the treatment progresses.
Down time:
Carbon facials have little to no downtime, making them a perfect “in and out” treatment.
You may experience slight redness or warmth immediately after, but this typically settles within a few hours. Most clients leave with an instant glow — clearer pores, smoother texture and brighter skin.
There’s no peeling or visible downtime, so you can return to normal activities straight away.
Aftercare:
Post-treatment, your skin is clean, refined and more receptive — so keeping your routine simple is key.
For the first 24–48 hours, avoid heat-based activities such as hot showers, saunas, steam rooms and intense exercise. Stick to gentle skincare and avoid active ingredients like AHAs, BHAs or retinol during this time.
Hydration is key — focus on barrier-supporting products to keep the skin calm and balanced.
SPF is essential. Your skin will be more sensitive to UV post-treatment, so apply sunscreen daily and reapply as needed.
Carbon facials deeply cleanse, exfoliate and refine the skin while also stimulating collagen production. They target congestion, excess oil, enlarged pores and uneven texture — leaving the skin clearer, smoother and brighter.
Unlike traditional facials, carbon facials use laser technology to work both on the surface and within the skin. This means you’re not just cleansing — you’re also targeting oil production, bacteria and skin function at a deeper level.
The first pass (with carbon) focuses on exfoliation and deep pore cleansing. The second pass (without carbon) delivers heat into the skin to stimulate collagen and improve skin structure. This is what gives both immediate and longer-term results.
Yes — carbon facials are ideal for oily, congested and acne-prone skin. The carbon binds to oil and debris within the pores, and the laser helps to remove it while also reducing acne-causing bacteria.
Carbon facials don’t physically “shrink” pores, but they can make them appear significantly smaller by clearing congestion and regulating oil production. The collagen stimulation from the second pass also helps improve overall skin texture.
This depends on your skin, but many clients benefit from regular treatments every 2–4 weeks, especially if managing oil, congestion or acne.
You’ll notice immediate improvements in brightness, smoothness and clarity. Longer-term benefits, like improved texture and oil regulation, build over a series of treatments.
